Your time is valuable. That's why the Cameo 4 series cuts jobs up to 3 times faster than previous models.

With its kiss-cut action for rolled materials, or its pop-out cutting feature for paper and cardstock, the Cameo 4 series gives you the freedom to cut various material types without using a cutting mat. With certain materials you can now choose to cut from a mat or go completely mat less using Cameo 4’s smart cutting technology. You can also cut directly from a roll using the built-in roll feeder and crosscutter. Cut out or sketch on dozens of materials such as vinyl, cardstock, fabric, and more.

Tool Detection simplifies your experience by automatically detecting which tool you've put in the machine and instantly adjusting your software settings.

Cut rolled materials with ease using the built-in roll feeder, which allows for projects up to 18 meters in length.

The Cameo 4 series offers the impressive ability to apply up to 5,000 gf means you can cut felt, fabric, and other specialty materials with ease using our Rotary Blade.

Create custom Print & Cut projects with your home printer, and use your Silhouette to cut them out. You can make custom stickers, printed heat transfer decals, temporary tattoos and more!

Cut or sketch using a variety of available tools with the Cameo 4 series' dual carriage system. Carriage 1 is for standard cutting with the included Auto Blade. Carriage 2 provides more power for use with specialty tools, such as the Rotary Blade or Punch Tool.

All Silhouette machines use the powerful Silhouette Studio® software, which allows you to tap into our expansive collection of Silhouette Design Store content, import your own fonts and images, or create designs from scratch. You can also unlock even more power and features through additional software upgrades.

For the first time ever, cut materials like paper and cardstock without a cutting mat. With this feature, the Cameo 4 will make a cut but keep the material in place using perforation cuts in strategic places. Once the material is removed from the cutting machine, simply pop the cut design from the paper. Matless cutting options available depending on material type. Materials with liners or backing, such as vinyl, heat transfer, and sticker sheets can be fed directly into the Cameo 4 without a cutting mat. Cameo 4 also offers a special "Pop-out" cutting feature for paper and cardstock materials where a cutting mat is not required.

What is a roll feeder?

The Roll Feeder provides an easy and convenient way to hold rolled material as it is being fed into the Silhouette cutting machine, thus allowing you the convenience of cutting longer jobs while properly aligning your material so that it is straight as it feeds through the machine.

How do I lock my Silhouette Cameo 4 roll feeder?

To move the roller on a Cameo 4, flip the roller bar lever down on the right side to release the roller bar. Then press the lock button on the roller and slide the roller to the left until it settles into the groove on the roller bar. Then flip the roller bar lever up to lock the roller bar in place.

How do I move the rollers on my silhouette cameo 4?

Flip the roller bar lever down so the roller bar goes up. This will allow you to move the right roller bar in which needs to be done so it can catch the right side of the material. Press the lock button on the right roller and move the roller to the right until it hits the next set of grooves.

What is the cross cutter on the silhouette?

You can feed rolled materials directly into the Silhouette Cameo® without a mat and cut a straight leading edge with a crosscutter.

What does a cross cutter do?

Cross-cut shredding is similar to traditional strip-cut shredding, but it cuts paper into much smaller pieces. In a cross-cutter serrated blades are placed in two sets facing opposite directions, and when moving simultaneously paper is cut into confetti-like pieces.

3 mm clearance for thicker materials.

The 3mm Kraft Blade for the Cameo 4 allows you to cut specialty craft materials, such as chipboard, acetate/pvc, craft foam, burlap, felt, balsa wood, cork sheets and leather. The 3 mm depth is designed specifically to take advantage of the increased clearance the Cameo 4 has to cut even thicker materials. Recommended for use with a Strong Grip High Tack Mat.

How do I connect Bluetooth to my Silhouette Cameo 4?

Start by powering up and turning on your CAMEO 4. On the touch panel, press the white Bluetooth button so it turns blue. This enables Bluetooth on the cutting machine. Next you must get your computer to recognize that you have a new Bluetooth device.

What is the print and cut size for Silhouette?

The Cameo (12") model's maximum Print & Cut material size would be 12 x 12 inches.

Can you scan and cut with Silhouette Cameo 4?

The Silhouette Pixscan mat is used for two main purposes: to accurately and precisely cut pre-printed materials (like a print and cut for pre-printed materials) and also to sketch, etch or cut with extreme accuracy on very small craft blanks or vinyl scraps

How does the PixScan mat work?

PixScan technology allows you to cut precisely around any printed image or position cut lines in a specific location on your material using a camera or scanner. PixScan is perfect for digitizing a stamp collection or turning a hand-drawn sketch into a cut job.

What Blades Can you use with cameo 4?

The Silhouette CAMEO 4 can also take the new Silhouette Rotary blade, the Kraft blade, and the Punch Blade. These blades are all exclusively to be used in the CAMEO 4's right carriage, Carriage 2.

How do you use Kraft blade 2mm cameo 4?

In the CAMEO 4, the 2mm Kraft Blade must be used with the white tool adapter in the left carriage. Make sure the blade is in the adapter correctly or it will not hit the material when cutting. Return to the Send Panel and click "Send" to begin the cutting.

What is the Rotary Blade used for?

Silhouette's Rotary Blade is for use in the Cameo 4 only. The Rotary blade provides an alternate method of cutting by having the blade roll across your material. Cut a variety of specialty materials including cotton fabrics, leather, felt, wool, and more without a special stabilizer backing.

What does the Cameo 4 Punch Bool do?

The Punch Blade for Cameo 4 is a specialty blade specifically designed to be used with the Silhouette Cameo® 4 cutting machines, including the Cameo Plus and Cameo Pro. Its purpose is to mark the pieces of vinyl or heat transfer that need to be weeded or removed after a cut is complete.

How do you use the Cutting Mat in Cameo 4?

Here's how it works. With the CAMEO 4 powered on, press the load button (up arrow) on the front panel. The button will start flashing. You now have 3 seconds to line up your cutting mat (covering the mat detection sensor) and then the machine will automatically feed the mat in.

So now you ask, “What is the difference between the Cameo 4, Cameo 4 Plus and Cameo 4 Pro”?

So the main difference between the Cameo 4 and Cameo 4 Plus is literally just the cutting width. The Cameo 4 is 12” wide and the Cameo 4 Plus is 15” wide. Where the 12” machine includes a 12” cutting mat, the 15” one includes a 14.5” x 15” cutting mat. That’s it!

Now the difference between the Cameo 4, Cameo 4 Plus and the Cameo 4 Pro is slightly different. Unlike the CAMEO 4 and CAMEO 4 Plus, the CAMEO 4 Pro roll feeder is not built in and the roller bar was re-designed to stabilize it. For starters, the Cameo 4 Pro looks slightly different than the Cameo 4 and Cameo 4 Plus.

The cosmetic changes - which you really need to look close for - were needed due to the changes made to roll feeder and the roller bar. Both needed to be updated and stabilized on the 24" Silhouette model to accommodate the larger machine to account for the heavier 24" vinyl rolls and HTV. The CAMEO 4 Pro includes a 4-piece detachable roll feeder that requires assembly to be used.

The Silhouette CAMEO Pro Roller Bar is also different than any of the other Silhouette machines. While the tool carriage is the same on the CAMEO 4 vs CAMEO Pro, the roll feeder is squared off and the rollers are not exposed.

CAMEO 4 Pro only includes the blue sketch pen tool adapter.  To use any of the manually adjustable Silhouette Tools in the CAMEO Pro, you will need to purchase the additional adapters or wait until new B style tools are released.

The CAMEO Pro also includes a mat support block which is not included with the small Silhouette CAMEO 4 machines.

And then of course the obvious, it is 24” wide and includes a 24” x 24” cutting mat.

I hope this article has given you more insight into what this machines capabilities are and some tips and tricks along the way.

Until next time;

Doodles Love; Jenna
